Quite often, a session reminds me of why this career is a continuing passion; this one was absolutely that kind of evening.


Brittney and her family won this session through a giveaway I donated to our local MOPS (MomCo) group, a Christian-based community for moms that's highly active in the Blair area. When she reached out to claim her session, her excitement was contagious. She shared that she had been following my work for a while and was thrilled to have the opportunity to create something special with her family!

Intentional Styling That Brought the Vision to Life


Brittney was all in when it came to styling. She welcomed guidance with open arms and made full use of my client wardrobe, which is always so exciting as a photographer. Her olive-toned dress paired wonderfully with the tiered, neutral dresses worn by her daughters. They brought out the golden tones in the field and contrasted beautifully with the moody skies that rolled in just before our shoot. I love when clients trust me with the creative direction; it allows the session to feel cohesive, artistic, and speaks their story!

Stormy Skies, A Short Hike, and a Surprise Sunset


Shortly before our session, the sky started to cloud up with what seemed to be a brewing storm. At first glance, it wasn’t the dreamy golden hour we’d all hoped for. But we decided to take a short hike to one of my favorite hidden ridges overlooking the Blair countryside, and I’m so glad we did. As we crested the hill, the clouds parted just enough to reveal a glowing, painterly sunset over the prairie.


It was muggy and hot, the air was thick, but the kids were champs through it all! They played, danced, and explored, giving us the kind of genuine, joy-filled moments that I live to capture.

A Session Full of Warmth, from The Sun and The Heart


There was such a beautiful energy to this family. From the way Brittney and her husband looked at each other in the quiet moments, to the laughter and curiosity of their kids, every frame spoke who they were. These are the kinds of sessions I love most: blissful chaos, the chance of looming rain, and being utterly humble to what God graces us with.
